Sunflower Caravan (CZ)
Some of the most interesting material in the young Czech music scene. The originally pure instrumental band has been built especially on the sound of the instrument that was for a long time seemingly regarded as 1960’s scrap yet which has seen admirable restoration around the world: the Hammond organ. However, the organ owner and band leader, Andy Čermák, who would expand his musician role to the role of the vocalist, plays it with such fervor and extends guitar effects that are comparable to Jimi Hendrix.
Sunflower Caravan has released two albums that met very positive reception from the audiences and reviewers: Sunflower Caravan (2009) and A Little Bit More (2010). The band has appeared at many leading domestic festivals and several times in abroad as well. They have been on the European tour with The Ark (Sweden) with shows in eleven cities (Rotterdam, Paris, Berlin, Milano, Rome, and others), and a New Year’s Eve concert in Dublin with Glen Hansard and The Frames. Sunflower Caravan appeals to all generations of listeners: this shows in its success as the support band at the comeback concert of the Slovak 1970’s legend, Collegium Musicum of Marián Varga in the great hall of Lucerna in Prague.
