Zrní

Zrní (CZ)

The band was formed by schoolmates from Kladno, CZ, who in their own words enjoy “playing music, fooling around, talk in tones, communicate like with fingers in the air, like people in the streets. To create and interact about what we see the things around us”.  The band claims its influences to be traditional music (as shown by some of the instruments in the lineup) as well as the contemporary electronica. We enjoy Radiohead, Efterklang, but also UJD, Václav Koubek, and Dvořák. Everything flows through us and changes into something new – we are a meat mincer that gives you meat noodles and potato pancakes. Have a beer and enjoy the feast,” Zrní says.

Zrní won the 2009 competition organized by Český rozhlas for the country’s best non-professional music band and released its debut album, Voní. Zrní released its second album Hrdina počítačový hry jde do světa in the Spring of 2011 at Radůza Records; the band cooperated with singer/songwriter Radůza in the process. Last year’s album Soundtrack ke konci světa (Soundtrack to the End of the World) was nominated to the Apollo, Vinyla and Anděl awards in 2012. The band had as many as four nominations in the Anděl Awards (Band of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Alternative Music Record, and The Folk&Country Album), winning only the Newcomer of the Year 2012.
