Never Sol (CZ)
Fragile songwriting, contagious melancholy as well as a charming voice full of raw emotion: such is the Never Sol project of the vocalist and keyboard player Sára Vondrášková. The first notion of her presence was the song Lay Down from David Ondříček’s crime drama Ve stínu. The song was also the beginning of her collaboration with the producer Jan P. Muchow who supervises the preparation of Never Sol’s debut album, scheduled for release in 2013. Never Sol is currently a concert duo with the drummer Lenka Dundrová.
Sára Vondrášková studied jazz singing at the Ježek Conservatory where she enlisted because she loved Diana Krall. Her current inspiration is rather oriented towards female indie-pop artists, such as Bat For Lashes, Regina Spektor, and Cat Power. “They are singers who are trying to identify their own language and don’t care much about how the singing ought to be done and how a tune ought to sound,” Vondrášková explains.
