Lucie Redlová (CZ)
As her last name suggests, the singer-songwriter from Valašské Meziříčí does come from a musical background. She has been onstage with many bands for over 10 years. She started as a mandolinist in the folklore-beat Docuku, was a guest in the rock band Rauš and folk bands Žamboši and Zhasni, she did some vocals on Květy’s album. She has been an occasional mandolinist performing with Prague’s Traband since 2011.
Redlová made her first record První, poslední in 2009, the album was produced by the Irish rocker Steve Wall from The Walls. Later that year, she formed an accompaniment band called Garde; its lineup also contains the guitarist Martin Knor from Mňága a Žďorp. Initially a pure folk artist, she shifted towards rock music and released Křižovatka, a record produced by the American Tim Eriksen, in 2012. Her latest project is the open female trio MDŽ, standing for Muzikantky, Dámy, Ženy (Musicians, Ladies, Women) where Redlová teams up with Beata Bocek and Jitka Šuranská, two other prominent singer-songwriters.
